In almost every situation I harbor Gatsby-like hope. So, when Isabella woke at 1am before our SeaWorld trip, I was sad but not discouraged. When you woke two hours later ready for the day, I was disheartened, but not defeated. For two hours you tossed and turned in your little bed, provoked me to roughhouse, and giggled merrily, waiting for me to play. I feigned sleep until you gave up and drifted off. The alarm sounded. I poured extra coffee. We hit the road, determined to choose joy.
Two hours of traffic later, we decided to head straight for the penguins.
